Avenue Capital is top contender for stake in Serie A media rights business
Monday, October 19, 2026 · first reported by Private Equity Wire
Avenue Capital has become the leading contender to buy a minority stake in the company that handles Serie A's international media rights, Private Equity Wire reports, citing Reuters. The New York-based investor wants 10% for €320m, which would value the business at €3.2bn. Its plain equity offer, with no extra protections over future cash flows, is gaining ground despite rival bids that carry higher valuations.
Carlyle and Nextalia, bidding together, have offered about €650m for roughly 17%, implying €3.75bn. Clubs are reviewing the proposals, and any deal needs approval from at least 14 of the 20 clubs. No decision has been made.
