Two Sigma Halted Fundraising at Its Real Estate Unit as Seth Platt Prepared to Leave Its Management Committee
Tuesday, October 20, 2026 · first reported by HedgeCo
Bloomberg News reported that Two Sigma Investments is winding back its real estate unit. Capital raising and new deals have ceased, and senior people are being let go. The unit had gathered less than half of a target of about $2 billion. Rich Gomel, its partner and chief investment officer, is departing, as are two of the three remaining partners and one of the two heads of data science. A smaller group will look after existing holdings.
Separately, Seth Platt, who represents David Siegel on the firm's two-person management committee, plans to step down once a successor is found.
