Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · first reported by Crunchbase News
Reach Capital partner James Kim discusses how the firm picks its investments in an interview with Crunchbase News. Kim began as a high school math teacher and was an early user of ClassDojo, which Reach later backed. The San Francisco firm spun out of NewSchools Venture Fund in 2015 and started with K-12 technology before moving into learning, health and work.
In August Reach announced a $265 million fifth fund, taking assets under management to nearly $1 billion. It plans to back about 50 more teams at pre-seed, seed and Series A. The firm has invested in more than 180 companies.
