Listed A to Z. Nobody pays to be listed or to change their place. This list is not everything: what we list and what we leave out.
What it does
These products gather numbers from portfolio companies, through a request sent to the company, a direct data connection or files read automatically, then keep them in one place for analysis, valuation work and reports.
How it differs
This software tracks how the companies a fund owns are doing. It is not fund accounting, which records the fund’s own books, and it is not a portal for reporting out to investors. Vendors built for venture and for buyouts differ a good deal in the depth of metrics they expect.
What to ask a vendor
- How do portfolio companies send their numbers, and how much work does it make for them?
- Who checks extracted numbers before they reach a report?
- Does it cover your strategy, for example credit or real assets as well as equity?
- Can it hold valuation work and support an audit trail?
- What does it connect to for market data and for your CRM?
Pricing
Few vendors publish a price. Where one does, it is on that vendor’s page here. Ask what the price depends on, such as the number of portfolio companies or funds.
