3i Infrastructure-backed Future Biogas takes full ownership of six anaerobic digestion facilities in the U.K.
Monday, October 26, 2026 · first reported by IREI and 2 others
Future Biogas, owned by 3i Infrastructure, has completed its takeover of six gas-to-grid anaerobic digestion plants by purchasing the remaining 49 percent stake from Foresight Environmental Infrastructure (FGEN). The price was £104 million, which IREI puts at $139 million.
JLEN Environmental Assets Group had earlier sold Future Biogas a 51 percent holding in the same plants, in a deal worth £68.1 million that closed in August 2024. Initial funding for the new purchase comes from an equity commitment by 3i Infrastructure plus Future Biogas' cash, with a refinancing of its capital structure to follow.
