Bon Secours Mercy Health is in advanced talks to acquire a majority interest in Surgery Partners and take the company private, the Financial Times reported. Pricing is around $20 per share. That puts enterprise value near $6 billion, with about $3.5 billion of it being debt. An announcement could follow as early as Monday.
Bain Capital, invested since 2017, would hold on to its stake of roughly 40%. Surgery Partners operates 176 surgery centers and hospitals in 30 states. Bain's earlier proposal, at about $6.7 billion including debt, ended without agreement.
