Let’s make a deal: Billions of dollars change hands in the U.S. oil and gas sector
Thursday, October 29, 2026 · first reported by IREI
Williams, a U.S. midstream company, is to pay $5.5 billion for Momentum Midstream (M6), which EnCap Flatrock Midstream is selling. M6 is an independent energy business in the midstream segment. Its natural gas system includes over 4,000 miles of gathering and transmission pipelines, with more than 1 million dedicated acres behind it.
The deal is one of several large U.S. oil and gas mergers and acquisitions in recent months. An EY benchmarking study from September ties long-term gas demand to liquefied natural gas, rising electricity consumption, and AI-related infrastructure and data centers.
