EnCap Investments has closed a continuation vehicle of about $3.5 billion for EnCap Minerals and Rock River Minerals, which hold mineral and royalty interests in the Permian Basin. IREI reports it as the largest raise yet for a continuation vehicle in upstream energy. Funds affiliated with Melange Capital Partners anchored the vehicle, and existing and new institutional investors took part.
The assets cover about 134,000 net royalty acres and produce roughly 37,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. ExxonMobil, Diamondback, Occidental and ConocoPhillips together account for about 48 percent of activity on the acreage. Law360 names Kirkland & Ellis as leading the deal.
