Pension sector to deploy $250m infrastructure fund
Monday, November 2, 2026 · first reported by Daily Trust
A $250 million infrastructure programme has won backing from Nigeria's pension sector, to be launched in phases through a Pension Industry Infrastructure Investment Consortium. Omolola Oloworaran, Director-General of the National Pension Commission, announced it in Lagos during national pension week, saying the Pension Industry Leadership Council had approved the phased start.
Pension fund operators are expected to supply $200 million as anchor investors, paid in through cash calls across 10 years. The other $50 million is to be sought from development finance institutions, and talks with them continue. Oloworaran said the commitment could grow and that projects would be screened strictly to protect contributors.
