Saturday, October 17, 2026 · first reported by The Brussels Times
AES Corporation, a US power company, is to come under the joint control of Global Infrastructure Management, LLC (GIM) of the United States and Luxembourg-based EQT Fund Management S.à r.l., after clearance from the European Commission under EU merger rules. The Commission announced its decision on Friday.
Its review focused mainly on electricity markets. It found no competition concerns, pointing to the limited market positions the companies would hold after the deal. The case went through the simplified procedure and is registered as M.12435.
