AIMCo joins Equitix-led investment in U.K.’s largest energy-from-waste platform Viridor
Monday, October 19, 2026 · first reported by IREI
KKR is selling a 50 percent interest in Viridor Group to a consortium led by Equitix, which includes GCM Grosvenor and now Alberta Investment Management Corp. (AIMCo). KKR holds on to the remaining half.
Viridor operates 12 energy-from-waste facilities in the United Kingdom, and two further sites are being built. The investors pointed to its leading market standing, cash flows that are contracted over the long term and tied to inflation, and its development pipeline. AIMCo is making its first investment in the energy-from-waste sector.
