IA Capital Group, a New York venture firm active in fintech and insurtech since 2000, has made an initial close of Inter-Atlantic Opportunity Fund I, its 11th fund. QBE Insurance Group is the anchor investor, committing via QBE Ventures.
The fund backs fintech, insurtech and adjacent companies, mostly at Series B or later. Besides direct primary investments, it purchases secondary stakes from sellers wanting liquidity, among them corporate venture programs that have scaled back. Two deals are done: Panacea, a US financial platform for medical practices, and Aurora, a UK underwriting platform. Ravi Shah, General Partner, leads the investment team.
