OrbiMed Banks $3 Billion for Two Healthcare Venture Funds

Thursday, October 15, 2026 · first reported by WSJ and 9 others

OrbiMed has raised $3 billion across two new funds, according to several outlets. AltAssets reports that one is a US and European life sciences fund and the other is the manager's sixth Asian healthcare investment vehicle, which passed $1 billion for the first time. Dealroom puts the life sciences fund at $1.9 billion within the $3 billion double close.

Outlets differ on how to label the vehicles. Law360 and PR Newswire call them private equity funds, while WSJ calls them venture funds. PR Newswire describes them as global and Asia funds.
