Thursday, November 5, 2026 · first reported by IPE Real Assets
Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), manager of Norway's sovereign wealth fund, has paid $300m (€267m) for a 10% direct stake in Aypa Power, a North American battery storage platform. It is the fund's first direct battery storage investment. NBIM already had indirect exposure to Aypa through the Brookfield Global Transition Fund strategy.
NBIM is a co-investor alongside Brookfield, which agreed in July to buy Aypa from Blackstone Energy Transition Partners at an equity value of $3bn and an enterprise value of about $7bn. Aypa has a 6.5GW portfolio across the US and Canada and a development pipeline above 20GW.
